Srinagar is the largest city and the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir of the Indian- administered union territory. This city is famous for its natural environment, gardens, lakes, and houseboats and lies in the Kashmir Valley on the banks of the Jhelum River, a tributary of the Dal, Indus, and Anchar Lakes.

This largest city has beautiful land, breathtaking mountain views, stunning Mughal gardens, and sprawling orchards. The snow-capped mountains range is present in the Lower Himalayas. The town itself is a mesmerizing blend of history, culture, and religion. There are also many towers of religious importance to be found in the city. It is famous for its traditional Kashmiri handicrafts like Kashmir Shawls and also dry fruits. It also has nine old bridges connecting the two parts of the city.


Srinagar has pleasant weather and, therefore, makes an ideal place to visit throughout the year. However, the best time to visit this place is from April to October. During this time, tourists can admire this city's natural beauty as the whole valley gets blossoms. The months from March to June undoubtedly witness the most tourists as the temperature sets are 14 to 30 degrees. Even autumn is the best season, from September to November, when the landscapes turn into shades of molten gold.


Srinagar is well connected with a different part of India through railway and via road as well. To reach via train, one has to go to either Jammu Tawi or Udhampur railway station. From these stations, you can hire taxis or private or government buses to this marvelous place. The major Srinagar domestic airport, Sheikh ul Alam Airport is well connected to all major domestic airports in India. This international airport is just 15 km away from the city. It is easily accessible by road and can be reached by car, bus or taxi from Delhi NCR.


There are four most famous national and local traditional dishes and two best authentic restaurants. Don’t forget to taste Rogan josh, Rajma Chawal, Kheer, Yakhni pulao, Dum aloo, Rajma, Rista, Kashmiri Naam, Lotus Root Curry (Nadru Yakhni), and Goshtaba. Also, don’t forget to take some Kashmiri chili and Kalari at your home. The primary drink is Noon Chai is a tea-based beverage that has its origins in Kashmir. There are many “not-so-expensive” eateries or fine dining experiences with traditional yet modern décor and comfortable luxury.
