The state receives a high number of religious tourists, as Amritsar is a holy city for Sikhs. The state lies with its border to Pakistan and was divided during the Partition. The official language is Punjabi and Hindi. The state still has a silk extraction industry and is also known for growing the majority of the wheat crops. Punjabi cuisine is renowned across the globe and consists mainly of flatbread, lentils, meat, and dairy. It is most famous for its well-spiced curries and dairy products.
Place to Visit
Amritsar is a notable place of worship. The famous Golden Temple gurudwara receives millions of visitors each year. Besides that, Punjab also has many other places in Jalandhar and Ludhiana, which are historically significant and are home to many of the famous temples and churches. There are botanical gardens throughout the state and it also boasts a tiger safari park, a zoological park, and several other parks dedicated solely for wildlife enthusiasts.
