The name Meghalaya in Sanskrit means the “abode of the clouds” and this northeastern state. The state is geologically rich, with valley and rich plateaus that are fertile and consist of many Archean rock formations and visitors come to the state for its stunning waterfalls, hill, dense forest and valleys for a quiet and invigorating time.

It has some unique traditional food like the Jadoh, which is pork meat cooked with red rice, which can be cooked in pigs’ blood. Pumaloi is another staple that is made from rice flour and is considered a delicacy. The state has many languages with English being the official language. The other commonly spoken languages are Khasi, Garo, and Pnar.
